Why a Cancer Academy?
As a breast cancer survivor, I founded After the Bell Cancer Academy to fill the void I felt post-treatment. The isolation and lack of reliable support resources left me searching for purpose, inspiring me to create a platform to empower women to thrive beyond cancer. I reached out to my partner, Staci, an acquaintance, to see if she was interested in creating this platform with me. We wanted to reach rural survivors, especially, but my vision extends globally. Through free online classes, coaching, and a vibrant community, the academy nurtures physical, emotional, and social well-being. Knowing 1 in 4 survivors face clinical depression, per the American Cancer Society, we designed a holistic approach based on five pillars: Inner Well-Being, Aspiration Mapping, Empowering Networks, Healthy Lifestyle Choices, and The Magic of Fun. These guides women to combat despair, rediscover purpose, and build resilience—our courses, like those on mindfulness and nutrition, alongside group coaching, foster connection and transformation. Our goal is to help survivors not just cope but shine as strengths for their families and pillars in their communities. By addressing the often-overlooked challenges of survivorship, After the Bell revolutionizes how women think, feel, and live, creating a joyful, empowered future.
